KACT: The Beginning
There was once a group of individuals
who not only loved attending theatre productions,
but were also interested in performing in and producing shows themselves. They had the idea
to try organizing a theatre group in their own
hometown and see if it could work.
Maybe it could work!
They wanted to include all ages both
on stage and in the audiences whenever they could.
Everyone who wanted to, could participate -
no matter their skill level. The goal was for everyone
both on stage (and backstage) and in the audience
to have a great time. Born in 1987,
Knoxville Area Community Theatre
is thriving today by staying
close to that original goal.

There are many ways for you, your family,
and friends to become part of the KACT
family, and any amount of experience
(including zero) is welcome!
On-Stage:
Actors, Singers, Dancers, Musicians - whether you've ever done something like this before or it's something you've always wanted to try, come to an audition!

Off-Stage:
Set Construction - If you enjoy designing, painting, or building things, maybe you would like to work on the set for a production by joining our set construction crew!

Back Stage - We can always use an extra hand for opening curtains, moving sets for scene changes, or making sure backstage activity is running smoothly.

Production Assistants - We could use your organizational skills to help Directors and Producers with scheduling, notes, communications, and other tasks.

Lights & Sound - Lights and sound are important parts of every successful
production. If you love working with technology, we'll get you trained for this!

Off-Off-Stage:
Costumes - If you're good at shopping at thrift stores, or sewing, you could be a
perfect fit for our costume department. It's a fun time putting together all the pieces.

Hair & Makeup - This can be especially fun when specific looks are needed to help
create characters for a show. Artistic flair is welcome!

Props - Finding props for each show is like a scavenger hunt. Some things can be
found in your own attic, basement, or garage and others might need to be made from scratch. If you're crafty -- this is for you!
